How to Receive the EMWIN Data Feed

Three Ways to Receive the EMWIN Feed:

Procure the following:

1.  VHF radio receiver (scanner is sufficient; may need external antenna)
2.  Demodulator (buy one from Xenocode, or build your own.  Schematics are provided by Xenocode free of charge
3.  A Windows (95 or 98) based computer that can run 24 hours a day.  (at least a 486 with 16 MB RAM and 20 MB HD)
4.  Weathernode 4 software (download a trial version from Xenocode, registration is $ 79)

Four Easy Steps to Start Receiving EMWIN:

  1. Tune the scanner or receiver to the appropriate VHF frequency (147.48 MHz in Goshen area).
  2. Connect the audio output of the radio to the audio input of the demodulator.
  3. Connect the demodulator to an unused serial port (15 pin sub-D connector) on the computer.
  4. Install and and set up the Weathernode 4.0 software.  Instructions are provided.
